Photos: Nigerian pastor arraigned in the UK for £4million fraud

Nigerian man, Samuel Kayode, who serves as
an accountant at Haberdashers' Aske's state
schools in the UK, is standing trial at a Woolwich
Crown Court in South London for allegedly
defrauding the schools to the tune of £4 million.
According to DailyMail, the 60 year old father of
four who is also a pastor, allegedly spent his loot
from the school's accounts on some private
healthcare for his dying first wife Grace in England
and then sent some of his loot on his second wife
here in Nigeria as well as using some of his loot to
buy designer outfits, the court heard two days
ago.
According to the prosecution counsel, Kayode
would arrive late each day to his £57,000 a year
accounts manager job, dressed in expensive
Gucci and Versace clothes. He would work late in
his office, refusing to share details of the schools'
finances with his bosses. He allegedly obtained
£150,000 by theft and £3.95million by fraud.
Kayode was caught when an anonymous whistle
blower phoned a new chief financial officer at the
schools in 2012. When he was arrested, the
suspect had in his garage a new Mercedes, a new
£40,000 Infiniti luxury car, an Audi TT sports car,
at least four properties in Britain and more in
Nigeria. He made no comment to 'each and every'
police question.
Kayode who lives in East London denied the
charges levelled against him.

Bakassi Militants appeal to Niger Delta Avengers to stop blowing up oil pipelines

Bakassi Militants under the aegis of Bakassi Strike
Force, have appealed to their counterparts, the
Niger Delta Avengers, to stop blowing up pipelines
in the region. In an interview with Channels TV, the
Militants asked the group to desist from carrying
out more attacks on oil installations as such acts
will only inflict more hardship on the people of the
region.
Leader of the group, Simple Benjamin in the
interview which was recorded at Esuk Mba, in
Akpabuyo local government area of Cross Rivers
state, said the Federal government should listen to
the demand of the Niger Delta Avengers
"Fellow compatriots of the Niger Delta
Avengers, please sheath your sword and
give peace a chance. I think you have
made your point. Give the government a
chance to respond. Nigeria needs peace
now more than ever. I appeal to the
Nigerian security agencies to please thread
carefully as two wrongs cannot make a
right. I appeal to the Federal government
and all those in authority to be mindful of
their words as it can infuriate and set one
against the other. We recently hear
comments from the Federal government
such as we will crush them and no fresh
amnesty. We are not saying criminals
should be celebrated but we should take
cognizance of the fact that Niger Delta
challenges are unique therefore should be
treated carefully"he said

Photo: Mentally challenged woman gives birth to baby girl on a street in Calabar

A mentally ill woman in her thirties delivered a
baby girl on Ndidem Usang Iso, Marian road,
Calabar’s most highbrow street, yesterday, June 9
at about 3:50pm. According to CrossRiverWatch,
eyewitnesses around said the lady has been a
familiar face in the neighbourhood before she
became pregnant.
When a CrossRiverWatch reporter visited the
scene of the delivery after the mother and baby
had been moved to the hospital, one shop owner
told our reporter that:
"We did not see her again for some time after she
became pregnant. I think she was raped. She
returned some days ago and sat in that place and
has been feeling very uncomfortable since
yesterday. Nobody knew it was labor that was
disturbing her. It was when the baby started
coming out that people called the health workers
who came here to assist her."
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong,
responded immediately by going to the scene
personally with an ambulance to handle the
situation. On arrival, she took the mother and the
baby to the General Hospital, Calabar for expert
medical attention.
Dr. Asibong also promised that after their
discharge from the hospital, the mother and child
will be referred to a psychiatric hospital.
The mentally ill lady refused to go to the hospital.
She later agreed after a friend of hers, another
mentally ill woman, came and begged her.

Harry Potter Stars Get Sorted into . Hogwarts Houses and Their Results May Surprise You

We know Harry Potter characters Ron Weasley,
sister Ginny Weasley and friends Neville
Longbottom and Luna Lovegood were sorted into
the Hogwarts school's house of Gryffindor, but what
about the actors who played them?
Rupert Grint, 27, Bonnie Wright, 25, a mustache-
clad and pretty hot Matthew Lewis, 26, and Evanna
Lynch, 24, who is as cheerful and delightful as her
onscreen counterpart, were "quizzed" by the online
Sorting Hat on the Pottermore website, almost five
years after the final Harry Potter movie, Harry
Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2, was
released.
A Youtube video shows the four answering the
magical being's questions, which consist of queries
such as "White or Black?" and "Which of the
following do you find more difficult to deal with—
hunger, loneliness, boredom or being ignored?"
And the results? Only two of the actors are indeed
true Gryffindors, known for their bravery, while the
other two were both sorted into the house of
Hufflepuff, whose members are known for their
dedication, hard work, patience and kindness.

Following his breakup with Kourtney Kardashian ,
the father of three is convinced he's been plagued
with the rumored "Kardashian curse" that affects
the men in family. In an attempt to prove his theory
is correct, he visits a card reader with Kendall
Jenner in this bizarre clip from Sunday's all-new
episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
"The cards talk a lot about a load of negative
energy," the psychic tells him. "Everything that you
try to do, you have a tendency to have many
obstacles in front of you. To answer your question, I
would probably say you do have a curse." Uh oh…

Huge monument found 'hiding in plain sight'

A huge monument has been discovered buried
under the sands at the Petra World Heritage site in
southern Jordan.
Archaeologists used satellite images, drone
photography and ground surveys to locate the find,
according to the study published in the American
Schools of Oriental Research.
The large platform is about as long as an Olympic
swimming pool and twice as wide.
Researchers say it is unlike any other structure at
the ancient site.
The study, by Sarah Parcak of the University of
Alabama, Birmingham, and Christopher Tuttle,
executive director of the Council of American
Overseas Research Centers, describes the find as
"hiding in plain sight".
Petra dates back to the fourth century BC, when it
was founded by the Nabataean civilization, who
inhabited parts of what is now Jordan, Iraq, Syria
and Lebanon.
Surface pottery suggests the platform was built in
the mid-second century BC, when Petra was at its
peak.
It is thought the structure may have had a
ceremonial purpose.
The survey also revealed a smaller platform was
contained inside the larger one, which was once
lined with columns on one side with a vast staircase
on the other.
Mr Tuttle told National Geographic that someone in
decades of excavation "had to know" the structure
was there yet it had not been written up.
"I've worked in Petra for 20 years, and I knew that
something was there, but it's certainly legitimate to
call this a discovery."
Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit Petra each
year, although numbers have been hit by the
conflict against so-called Islamic State.
The site is best-known for the Treasury Building,
which is carved from sandstone and featured in
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Photos: Meet Pakistani mother who burnt 16 year old daughter alive for eloping

A Pakistani mother who burned her teenage
daughter alive as punishment for eloping to marry
her boyfriend proudly shouted about her murder in
the street afterwards.
Parveen Rafiq, tied her daughter Zeenat, 18, to a
cot, doused her in kerosene and set her alight in
the family home in Lahore, eastern Pakistan.
Mrs Rafiq then went outside and began shouting
on the street to neighbours that she had killed the
teen for bringing shame on her family, while
beating her chest. Zeenat's 'crime' was getting
married to her partner Hasan Khan, a motorcycle
mechanic, before a court magistrate last month,
Police official Sheikh Hammad said.
'Perveen killed her daughter Zeenat Bby burning
her alive around 9:00 am on Wednesday,' Haidar
Ashraf, a senior police official told AFP.
'Zeenat was unwilling to go back to her home and
told me that she would be killed by her family, but
later agreed when one of her uncles guaranteed
her safety.
'The day we eloped she had been abused,
there was blood on her nose and on her
lips,' Hassan told CNN. 'She was in
distress; she asked me to take her away
and marry her.
'After two days, she called me and said
that her family had gone back on their
word and asked me to come to get her, but
I told her to wait for the promised eight
days. Then, she was killed.'Hassan's
mother Shahida Khan said that Rafiq's
family 'had promised that not even one hair
on her head would come to harm.'
'We called up her uncle and he told us that they
will bring her back to us themselves -- we trusted
them,' she told CNN.
Hassan Khan, her husband of 11 days, today
buried his wife, who was found to have smoke in
her lungs suggesting she was still alive when she
was set on fire.
'We went to her house, she was gone, she was
finished and they had thrown her burnt body on
the stairs,' he said.Naseem Bibi, Perveen's
younger sister, told AFP:
'After killing her daughter, Perveen went
out on the street, took off her shawl and
started beating herself on her chest,
shouting: 'People! I have killed my
daughter for misbehaving and giving our
family a bad name.'
'My sister declared a long time ago she
would not allow her daughter to marry a
Pashtun,' she said.
The victim's sister Shazia also blamed Zeenat for
defying her mother, but said she had urged her
mother to cut ties with her instead of killing her.
Perveen's husband died several years ago and
her relationship with her daughters had
deteriorated, according to Shazia.
'Our mother became distressed because of
her daughter's disobedience and because
she felt there was no man in the house to
rein her in.'

Coma mum fights for life after 'ambulance crew left her at home claiming she was just drunk'

Claire Mozaffari (far right) who was left in a coma
after an ambulance blunder
A mum-of-two is fighting for life in a coma after
ambulance crews allegedly failed to take her to
hospital claiming she was drunk.
The desperate family of Claire Mozaffari is
demanding answers after the alleged blunder.
Claire, 33, was on a night out with pals in Newcastle
when she collapsed at her home in Deckham,
Gateshead.
Worried sister Lorna Bell, according to the
Newcastle Chronicle , rang an ambulance after she
struggled to bring Claire around, but paramedics
told the family she was drunk and advised them to
put her on the couch, the family claim.
It was only when her condition deteriorated nine-
and-a-half hours later that Lorna phoned the
ambulance service back and Claire was rushed to
the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Days later she fell into a coma and doctors have
warned she may not wake up.
Lorna said: "I was in the bathroom when I heard a
bang and Claire was knocked out on the floor. We
couldn't bring her around at first, she could not walk
and she was confused so we called an ambulance.
"Three paramedics came out really quickly. We told
them what had happened and the fact that Claire
had only had five pints. They picked her up, put her
on the sofa and said she was drunk. We trusted the
ambulance service. “But my mum called me the next morning to say
she had gotten worse so we phoned the ambulance
back and Claire was taken to hospital.”

Claire’s condition improved and she was able to
drink from a straw.
But days later the family were told Claire had taken
a turn for the worse and she had to undergo
emergency surgery to remove part of her skull.
She has been in a coma since the operation.
Lorna said: “Doctors have told us it is unlikely Claire
will recover. Last week we were taken into a room
and asked if Claire would really like to be in a
vegetative state because that’s probably what she
is going to be like. No family should have to go
through that.
L-R Lorna and Carly Welch from Heworth, whose
sister Claire was left in a coma after an ambulance
blunder
“We want answers. Why did we have to wait nine-
and-a-half hours for Claire to be taken to hospital?”
Claire is still in a coma after the alleged incident,
which took place in the early hours of April 8.
Her shellshocked family now have to come to terms
with the fact they may never have the sister they
loved back.
Mum Caroline, 53, sisters Lorna, 25, Carly 21,
Emma, 30, Kayleigh 21 and brothers Ryan, 22 and
20-year-old Carlton have been keeping bedside
vigils, but doctors have warned any improvement
was likely to have happened in the weeks following
the incident.
Lorna is now caring for Claire’s 18-month-old
daughter Soheila while son Keiron, 13, is living with
his dad.
She said: “Keiron does not know the full extent of
the situation, just that his mum has been poorly.
Soheila is too young to know what’s happening, but
she will grow up never knowing what her mum was
like.

“Why do bad things happen to good people? Claire is
one of the best. She was married and had two kids,
she had everything to live for.
“She is special. She is the oldest sister so she is
like a second mam to us all. These last few weeks
have just been an emotional rollercoaster, we have
been to hell and back.
“You lose hope, then you get it back up before it’s
dashed again. I just do not know what to think.”
The North East Ambulance Service has now
launched an investigation following the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We are sorry to hear about
Claire’s condition. We have launched an
investigation into the circumstances surrounding
this incident and will ensure we keep Claire’s family
informed throughout the investigation process.”
