After spending 14 months in prison and cleared of
rape charges, a 40-year-old man has been asked
to report to the police 24 hours before he has sex.

The man who claims he had more freedom when he
was in prison, admitted he used to be interested in
Sado-Masochistic sex, popularly referred to as
S&M.
The man had also been accused of biting and
scratching his partner who reported him to the
police, a development which he said occurred
during an ‘after-sex massage’
The single father of one was arrested by North
Yorkshire police and arraigned for hearing at the
York Magistrate’s court, where he denied ever
being convicted of any crime including ‘ parking
tickets’.
The Yorkshire police force applied for a Sexual Risk
Order (SRO) for him when he was declared
discharged and acquitted of rape.
According to the terms of the temporary SRO, he is
required to inform the police of his intentions to have
sex with a new partner, at least 24 hours before the
act. He’s also not allowed to any internet-enabled
device that cannot be later accessed by the police.
The man didn’t find this requirement funny and had
this to say:
”It puts an end to your life, I had more freedom in
prison. The severity of the restrictions exceed what
convicted criminals would get on a Sexual Offence
Prevention Order. There’s no prospect of a
relationship at the moment because of the rules I’ve
been forced to live by. They contravene my human
rights. Can you imagine, 24 hours before sex? Come
on!
I’m in a state of shock, I cannot believe this is how
the justice system works. I thought the police were
interested in finding out the truth, the only thing the
police are interested in is securing convictions. It’s
so unjust, there is not a conviction to my name –
one allegation, acquitted and they can still shut you
down. They can create this virtual prison.”
He is set to face the judge on July 14, pending a full
hearing on August 19.

Man cleared of rape charges asked to notify police before having sex
Would you drink garri if it costs this much?
A 5-star hotel known as Kempinski Hotels in Gold
coast, Accra, Ghana, sold a plate of drinking garri at
a price most Nigerians would consider as ridiculous.
The bowl of garri which has groundnuts, milk frozen
into ice cubes, and sliced coconuts, was given
funkier names and sold at 145 Ghana Cedis, which
is about N13,000
What is so special about this garri?
They called it “ Cassava flakes, smoked nuts, sugar,
ice cube milk, fresh skimmed milk, water, shaved
coconuts ”

Read how politicians are sponsoring terrorist
Some Boko Haram terrorists detained by the
Nigerian army
Some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have
accused Nigerian politicians of sponsoring Boko
Haram terrorists operating in the north east.
Speaking in Abuja, the CSOs said the politicians are
sabotaging the President Muhammadu Buhari-led
administration’s effort towards fight terrorism in
Nigeria.
The CSOs said some of these politicians especially
stakeholders from Borno state, send conflicting
signals over their readiness for a “post Boko Haram
phase” in the region.
Speaking at the meeting, the chairman of the group,
Stephen Onwu, said the stakeholders in Borno have
not shown any zeal in seeing the end of terrorism in
the region.
He said there is deliberate effort by these
stakeholders to prevent stall the flushing of
terrorists out of Nigeria.
“There are appointed and political office holders that
are exploiting the situation to further their own
agenda to the detriment of national interest and
collective security of all Nigerians,”
“There is implication for these Boko Haram
sponsors to further ingratiate themselves to the
government of the day and we will have a repeat of
what transpired under the past administration again
where terrorism became a full-fledged business,”
the group added.
The group consisting of 13 CSOs commended the
Nigerian military for their effort in the fight against
terrorism.
The group however said that there are other
emerging security breaches that need a rapid
progression to the next logical phase of military
operation in Borno State.
These breaches the group said include the
resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta.
The group also called for investigation into the roles
played by politicians and foreigners in the
insurgency since the emergence of the Boko Haram
terrorists group.
It also called on the government to ensure that
resources are effectively committed into the
development of the region.
